Default Machinist or Mechanic

hey guys, I have a question if anyone has advice or can answer from experience, right now i am working towards a journeymen machinist, and im almost done my first year hours and will be going to school, but the thing is, I discovered this type of work is fairly boring right now, and ive always been interested in cars, im in a coop program that allows u to do a trade with their help finding work and employers for me, should i drop out from the intake im in and wait till next june(2007) to reenter as a mechanic, or just finish this machinist ticket and then move on with a mechanic. I would eventually like to be duel ticketed with two trades that go together!

stay where youre at for now. as a machinist, you can make a lot more money, and if you become a mech later on, then youll make a ton of money. to have someone who is capable of both, employers will pay a premium. Im jealous that you are close to becoming a certified machinist. I would have so much fun with that. but stick with it, being a machinist will give you a huge advantage later on as a mechanic.

I work as a cashier part-time. I don't like it at all but I'm sticking with b/c I will have a better chance of getting the job I want if I stick with the cashier position. I get crap pay for my qualifications and the job really sucks but I know what I want and to get it I have to work a job I don't like so I stick with it.

you just do it...and try to have some good "safe" fun around the shop...it will make time go a little faster... also, i found out that the longer you work fast food....the more respect you get (at least in the store) my first month at McDonalds was hell, but now that i have 7 months and a raise (plus i didnt start at minimum wage) you get to choose what you want to do more often...making work life a little easyier..
