Hopefully if the dealer can tell you it was from the mechanic hitting the tensioner... Then he would replace it for freee. Im really sorry..that totally sucks since its your new car and everything. Trust me, going from my Si, to a v6 auto Rustang, and gettin pretty much laughed at by minivans, I miss my Civ too.... [&:]

On the bright side, I happen to think Mitsus are good cars. I may not have loved my Eclipse, but the only thing I ever had to pay for on that car was replacing the clutch. Well until I killed the car of course... But it was a stupid thing on my part, not the car. Good luck!

And the verdict is?

She's down for the count....bent valves. She was timed 90 degrees out from where she was supposed to be timed. So now I'm looking at either $1900 to rebuild the head that's on the car. Or replace it with another one. But it's still going to be $700 just to swap a head that I provide. I can't believe my damn luck. What a **** day...

but that only applies to cars that are lemons from when you bought them. This car was running great until I got the timing belt replaced. I'm not sure how I can go about trying to hold the mechanic accountable b/c he's one of those guys that works out of his backyard. No receipt or paper work or anything. Man this blows ***....
