New Idea, perhaps
I think it'd be awesome if there was a program you could download
that you could just enter your make, model, year and type of your
Civic and it would load all the possible (or the most popular) parts
for your car and you could play around with everything and see how
much horsepower and torque gain you'd get and about the median
price to get all that stuff...
Just an idea to make us noobie modders have an easier life..
Is there anything like this out there already?

it'd take EONS to program a database like that

well...since HP is all based on percentages, it would be possible to take ur engine then if you add an exhaust, it gives you say 5% more HP. then addition of a specific turbo would give you 45%... then one intercooler would add 5%, but another one would add 7%. i dunno...its possible...but itd take hundreds of programmers and tens of thousands of man hours. so in the end it'd b super expensive. a more realistic view is make individual programs for specific cars. like the Civic. you pick your year, model, trim, then your upgrades. thatd b awesome
yeah, Need for Speed Underground has that upgrade mode. I always wonder why shops don't have that software where you can see what a specific mod might look like on your car. With the Hp percentages though all you have to do is do a search for it on here and you will probably find your answer.
another good simulator type vid game is IHRA drag racing 2. you can program every little detail into the set up(turbo maps(sorta) n2o flow rates, bore/stroke...etc...). i find it mo' bettah than GT.
I have that game and let me tell ya! that is a little too detailed for me. the game is oreintated(sp) more towards tuning and moddifying to be considered a game. I think it's more of a test. i don't play much any more though maybe when i decided to get really detailed in tuning......
