OPENING A SHOP!!
Yeah i was going to buy a wingswest supra style wing and hawk brake pads from him for my 300zx but i had neverending fuel injector problems with my Z and never got a chance to get back at him. He did offer me the cheapest prices I had ever seen though.
yea sometimes when we would have almost enough money...he'd let it slide, one time my friend got nitrous installed by him and he took off the labor charge...and also cut the price down on a lowering spring install... he's a cool guy lol
yeah he said he was going to see if he could get his friend that specializes in nissans to help me with the body work that i needed. Seeing as my flush mount was rotting and growing mold in it, i though a new wing would be a good change lol. To bad i still wished he was in business though. Looks like you'll have to take over
hahah i am hoping... the guys on my team know their biz but it's motivation sometimes they lack lol....Oh yea and we just got a call from my friends cousin...we got sponsored by Falken and Eibach!!! free tires!! yippy!!
Well man I should be coming back up to Elkhart sometime in June. Isn't there a performance place up on Cassopolis St.? I haven't been back there in about a year. My parent's house is right down the road from where your shop's going to be.
from my experience in the business world..........I just want to remind you that it takes money to make money. You guys need a lot of cash to start this kind of business.........think about it. Youve got rent, electric, gas, and startup money. You will need to dump tons of money into tools and stuff just to get the store open........then you gotta get some customers......thats going to be hard because of the competition........jiffy lube and etc do oil changes cheap as hell......and people tend to trust the corps more than the mom and pop places. The internet also plays a huge roll too.......as many parts can be purchased much cheaper online than they can thru you. Then once you get customers youve gotta figure out who gets the money. Say you get a kid looking to buy a $5,000 system for his car. You still have to buy the stuff, and then install it all. Say there is 1500 in profit......split that by say 4 ppl and it aint that much........and uve still gotta pay the bills........every month. Honestly i think it sounds like a great idea but there is way too much overhead.......if you guys do decide to do it then hey good for you........but it might not be a bad idea to run it out of your garage for a month or so and establish some sort of name for yourselves........then at least youre opening a shop and youve already got some sort of client list. Best of luck ~Pete
Pete hit the nail on the head. A lot of businesses don't even turn a big profit their first year. Thats where investors come into play. And if you think shaking money out of some rich investor's pockets is easy, you've got another thing coming. Rich people are rich for a reason, because their smart, and they know when the risk to reward scale is off.
IMHO, The biggest and best thing that you can do to insure success in a business, is offer something that no one else can (or already does). What that "something" is, is up to you to find.

Exactly tony. Also, you dont want too many "owners" because then youre dividing the $$ by too much. Take me for example, with my landscaping business. I have a business partner..........we each put like 2K towards the business........and bought lawn mowers and a trailer......luckily I have an S-10 we can use for now.........but we still need a new truck.....however.......we paid everything off in the first month of business......by offering a professional lawn service at a not so professional price.....this months invoices go out next wednesday.......and thats all pure profit.......had there been 4 parters.......profits take longer to come in, and each person gets less.....
