OPENING A SHOP!!
A good way to become know and establish a foothold is to open up wiht some ridiculous deal. Such as a complete oil change for like $15. You may only make a little if any money off of it but it establishes a customer base and your customers will trust you more since they knwo you wont be jackin the prices. Plus you will demolish the competition for a week or so. A barber shop jsut opened here a few months ago. They offered $1 haircuts the first week and $2.99 for the 6 weeks after that. They were always packed and still are even after they went up to normal prices. Just a comparison.
$15 isn't rediculously low, the shop i worked at for a while did $15 oil changes. I have no idea how people can afford to do oil changes for that little, it costs me $10 just for oil + filter.
profit... it all goes back to what Pete said. when Jiffy lube has 20 people to employ, they charge $20-30 for an oiul change so taht they can pay all their employees and still make a profit
because they trust the name jiffy lube.........granted we all know the "mechanics" working there are handjobs, but the bottom line is that people know jiffy lube is a big corperation........and ppl trust the name........think about it....if money wasnt an object....(If ur paying to get ur oil changed it obviously isnt)...........if money wasnt an object for you........would you go to the honda dealer or joes mechanic shop to get your motor rebuilt?
damn straight... personally i would go to a shop where i know the owner or something i wouldn't go to jiffy frikin lube they are all a bunch of handjobs, i would only go there if it was a last resort... god know's i will never in my life pay 20-30 dollars for someone to do something i can do myself, granted it may be hard but i know what's going into my motor, at jiffy frikin lube they could put some of the cheapest **** in there they can and you wouldn't know (even if you told them what you wanted in there)... but yeah crook best of luck to you and your buds man...
