cha' right. lol.
e
lotuses were famous for their british quality, back in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, if you can call it that. they're essentially handmade sportscars.

BUT, they do have a toyota engine and drivetrain so at least the engine will crank when the body panels fall off.

they don't call 'em exotic for nuthin...
Yeah, british quality in some cars is pretty questionable. Just read about TVR or Marcos - they are known to fall apart (at least in the interior. On the other hand, with the elise, it's a beautiful styling and handling, powered by Toyota's engine FTW!

i love the tail lights on that car, the way they light up at night, and the handling looks so sweet

My mecanhic has the old shape elise with a lot done to the engine 0-60 in 4.5 secs, it rips everything at the track! (although he is very handy behind the wheel) there are quite a lot of the older elises over here with the old rover 1.8 k-series engine swopped out infavour of a k20 type-r engine, they are damm quick.
lotus also designed the chassis, suspension and tuned the handling for the vauxhall vx220, its got a turbo'd 2.2 lump but is more refined so not as quick as an elise or exige. and finally the aerial atom is in a class of its own for cheapish track day cars. the only 3 cars quicker than it round the top gear track are the new tuned up zonda's, maserati mc 12 and the ferrari enzo (in that order).

If i had to pick a car to buy in the 60+ range it would have to be the Z06. For the money, the power and handeling cannot be matched. I've really always liked the Corvette. Some of the older ones (80s and 90s) i didn't care for. The old ones and of course the new ones i love. And Top Gear is awesome.
