vtx thats fun i ride it alot, a guy at the honda was riding a 900something cc sprot bike and said he had a vtx flat out run him like 3 times in a row. my friend has a 600cc sprot bike and my 1978 goldwing will out run him.
I have a hard time believing you out ran a 600cc sport bike on a goldwing. A CBR600F4i runs a 10.7 1/4 mile. It puts out 96 HP at 370lbs (3.8lbs/hp). An 05 GoldWing puts out 118HP at ~800lbs(6.78lbs/hp) and runs a 13.52 1/4 mile. I'm pretty sure an 05 GoldWing is faster than the older ones since they are fuel injected.

My high school autoshop teacher has a new GoldWing. The guy puts like 10k miles on it every summer. Even he admitted a sport bike would wipe the floor with him.

I actually started riding on a CBR600....I wouldn't recommend taking that approach either

Listen to Agent, he definitely knows what he's talking about.

started with a 125cc dirt bike, went to a 250cc dirt bike, first street bike was a cbr600, last street bike was a hayabusa... and lets just say the 'busa scared me ****less the first time i rode it... haven't ridden a bike since as that beast damn near made me **** myself. quite possibly the meanest vehicle i've ever driven, and definitely not a thing to forgive if you make a mistake...

start out small, and slowly work your way up or you'll end up a red spot on the pavement... helmet or not

the power to weight ratio for most bikes is extremely high, significantly higher than most cars (consider my 109hp 2300lb car: .04hp/#, hayabusa: 176hp 540lb or .28hp/#.... or 7x the power to weight ratio, cbr 600: 117hp 410lb or so: .28hp/#)

this is extremely noticeable, there's a reason most sport bikes can pull wheelies with very little throttle (**** the 'busa wanted to do it with almost none), also sport bike v cruiser, sport bike will win hands down, as most cruisers have similar power (current CBR 600 = 117hp, current Goldwing 1800 = 118hp, CBR weighs about half), goldwings are good for high 12, low 13 quarters, with 0-60 in 4.5ish, cbr 600 is good for low to mid 11's, and 0-60 in the low 4's, tests show the 'busa can run the quarter in high 9's, very low 10's and to 60 in under 3.5s, and from personal experience, i can tell you, 0-60 is definitely sub 4s, and you can hit 100 in less than 6s with ease.

what's really insane is there's a supercharger package for the 'busa that gives it around 250hp at the wheels, without adding much weight, gives like .4hp/#

bikes aren't toys, and not respecting their capabilities, will get you seriously injured or killed.

What I meant by the brakes is while applying the brakes use about 70 percent of the front and 30 percent of the rear all at the same time. If you use only your front and try to come to a complete stop you may flip. You say you will wreck on a bigger bike, I have been riding for 13 years and started on a 600. I have had 3 600's, 1 750, and 2 1000's. NEVER wrecked any of them because like I said if you respect their power and not twist the throttle all the way you will not wreck. Trying stupid things beyond your skill level is how people wreck.

Oh and I have seen many cruisers outrun sportbikes. You never know somebody's riding ability. An experienced rider can usually outrun an unexperienced rider unless you are only on a straight stretch than experience don't matter it's all about power. I believe the dude ran down 600's on a shadow, especially a honda CBR they are the slowest of any of the sportbikes.

THat explains why Honda is #1 on the MotoGP circuit. Also explains why the Honda Respol team is #1 on the MotoGP circuit....

^Where are you getting these numbers from? I found like 2 sources showing 600F4is at high 10sec. COuldn't find anything showing a GoldWing at 11 flat.
