I wish I could stop cold turkey. It is my new years resolution and I have went from a pack and a half a day to a pack every 24 hours(when I say 1.5 packs a day I mean hours inwhich I am awake)

I am hoping that I will not be smoking when spring rolls around.

I quit once for an entire year, but ended up falling back into the habit. Like pcupo said, you pretty much just have to man up and do it. I was blaming the fact that I still smoke on stress, and things like that, but recently I just said **** it... Everyone has stress, theres no reason I can't handle it like others who do not smoke. I've been sketchy about it lately, smoking maybe 2 or 3 cigs a day. Which is much better than the pack a day I was smoking for 5+ years, but still unacceptable in my mind.

Just beat it into your head that its time to stop smoking....right now. And when you get a craving, rise above it, and later on when the craving passes, you'll feel a lot better about yourself knowing that you over came your weakness...

......this is so much easier to say than it is to do... Screw it, i'm done too, let's have a contest Mossy, who can make it the longest.

Pete, good advice. i've actually started running and lifting again to try and motivate myself to be healthy. i have to make it to the gym at least 8 times a month now (if i make it 8 times a month, my health insurance pays for my Northwest Club membership) so just thinking how much easier it would be to run and excersize.

i was up to about 3/4 a pack per day while i was working in the summer, but since i've been back in school i've narrowed it down to 2-3 cigs per day. i still would really like to quit not only for me to feel better, but also to help support my gf to quit whos been smoking for 4 years and has started to develop a mean cough.

and pat, i used to chew, but just the fact that it tears apart your lip and how unattractive it is to the opposite sex got me to stop in a hurry. definately packs one hell of a nicotine buzz though.

oh and forty? you're on... [sm=badbadbad.gif]

^yea i know what you mean. to be honest i can't remember hte last time i've felt a real buzz from having a smoke. it more just out of habit. it's comforting and also kind of a social thing (no, not to be part of the cool crowd haha).

THEN QUIT NOW! Honestly, I said the EXACT SAME THING when I was around 20 years old. If I could go back and change one thing about my life, it would be to go to that point, and stop smoking. It will get harder, i promise.

Mossy..... 1, 2, 3 GO!
