god i love top gear.

but, i also agree that its only between the evo IX and 06 sti...the new ones are drop dead ugly.

i would go with the sti because ive had plenty fly past me on the freeway...they are STUPID fast....
however the evo IX has what, 400 hp?
the sti still beats it though in like acceleration and such.

STI...after rallyxing a wrx, i couldnt pass up an STI. the EVO is nice, i've ridden in one at an autox event a while back that held fastest time of the day, that thing fawking scared me. just the TMIC would be in better interest with my since i like running over 2 foot dirt burms

The Evo IX and the STi are nearly dead even. They are within a second (if not fraction a second) in just about every category. With that said, the I've heard that the Evo's interior is not very good and the STi has the better interior. The new STi is butt ugly and the Evo X isn't much better. The STi is going to be a car that will be harder to work on if you do you own work and mod. I think that the modding scene with Evos is much better, but then again I don't know too man people with either car. However the couple people I do know with Evos mod them almost immediatly after purchase.

When it all comes down to it, it's all about preferance, do you like the STi, or the Evo better? I'm more of an STi person, but that is my preferance... i would get one for 1 other reason then that... you can't buy the Evo in Canada

300, and the Evo edges out the STi by a fraction in almost every category.

He said he'll never track the car, so STi is definitely the way to go.

yea i like the STi but ive been hearing that moding the STi and mechanically its harder due to the way the engine is built, the EVO looks like and easier and less hassle car to mod/fix if anything were to ever go wrong

Crazy talk.. Unless you've really got to dig deep (like doing internal mods) the Subaru is just intimidating at first sight. For routine maintenence its a breeze. Oil Changes take 5-10 minutes, without even having to jack the car up. Accesories are mounted on the top, its actually very convenient.

Spark plugs/compression tests can be kind of tricky. I haven't done one myself, but one of my classmates was doing a compression test on a WRX he suspected had a blown head gasket(from too much boost) and he had quite a bit of a trouble with it. Also, Mitsu is absolutly **** about thier warranties. They will try to screw you ever time for repairs. They have a good reason to, alot of people beat the **** out of thier cars racing/upping the boost and break something and expect Mitsu to fix it under warranty. Now the basically assume you've abused it and try really hard to deny you warranty repairs. I've heard of a couple cases where people got screwed for warranty repairs.
