okay soo is itunes supposed to be stupid and say you hafta reformat the ipod each time i connect it after i have it plugged into my car?
btw its a band new ipod... current gen, the "classic" ipod, stereo is an Alpine CDA-9885
its getting annoying

Um are you sure your not pluging it into another computer? make sure that your firmwear on your ipod is synced to the correct version if not that can cause complications and what are you useing to connect it

well i had that thought as i ordered the newest ipod version...
but the thing is its like only once a week it randomly decides to barf like that or some how it knows when i just wanna move one song over [&:]

If the headunit adapter was not designed for the iPod classic then YES that can happen, basically you would want to check with Alpinet see if is even compatible with the iPod, cause most connectors are only designed for the older models iPod's and since newer models have a different firmware then the older ones, it can effect the way the ipod works... also if you have connected it between mac and windows it can cause that message you are getting as well.
