I'm not sure if the "yea" was sarcastic or not. I couldn't find current numbers, but in 2000 the estimate deer population in PA was 1,500,000*... and the population hasn't exactly been declining since then, either.

*number taken from the PA Game Commission's web site. I'd assume if anyone had an accurate estimate for the deer population in PA, it'd be the game commission.

Well you assumed, without knowing where I've lived my whole life, nor what I've regularly encountered while driving, that I "don't know" what it's like to have close calls with deer. Considering the definition of ignorant is "Lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact; unknowing", yes, I'd say your comments were quite ignorant.
