To the guy above me: your post is pretty pointless. The point of the urine test would be to weed out the people who ARE abusing welfare to be able to sit around and do drugs all day. Johnny Goodbody who doesn't abuse welfare will still be able to get his check.

The funny thing is I know people who do drugs all the time (especially alcohol, yes it's a drug, weed and pills) and they still manage to not only pass urine tests, but they're able to hold down a job perfectly fine.

There's more people on some kind of drug than there are completely clean individuals. Making people on welfare pass a drug test would be useless, but they could also get off thier lazy *** and get a job too. It's really not that difficult. Most fast food places are always looking for workers and at those places if you happen to show up every day it doesn't matter how worthless you are you can be a manager in no time. Perfect example: some guy we fired for showing up late repetedly and not doing his job correctly went to a Hardees down the street and got a job. In 3 weeks time he was the assistant manager.

BTW whoever wrote that must have a crappy job anyway cause I haven't had to take a **** test for a job in a long time. Last one I think I had to was for Wal-Mart like 5 years ago.

Wow my post is pointless because you disagree with one point out of many? Impressive. You aren't looking at the reality of it - where does the money come for all the urine tests and everything associated with them? Either we hay to pay more taxes, or welfare gets cut down. And just because a person smokes weed (or something else) doesn't mean they're not trying to better themselves.

As a cop i have seen a lot of the types that are on welfare, and there are good people, but i know a large portion is wasting away this money. These people live in these projects with pretty much no rent and reduced utility bills. I see drug deals go down all the time, and everyone we pat down about 80% of the time has something on them. I am sorry, but i really don't believe helping the homeless or supposed misfortunate anymore.

I will let you guys in on a secret...MOST homeless people are homeless because they choose to be. You would be surprised at what some of these guys can make in a day panhandling. Quite a few have mental health problems, but if they choose could go to the mental health center and get help. Usually the state will then put them up in free apartments and get some people to look over them. Pretty much all of them do crack, and drink listerine to get drunk. That is why i have a problem with these homeless charities, and even a little bit with toys-for-tots. It doesn't cost a lot to pick up a few toys for your kid(s) for christmas. The dollar store has a lot of stuff you can pick up cheap if your on limited incomes. The problem is that most these supposed parents are too busy buying thier drugs and/or beer with that money instead of being a parent. I see this crap everyday and it is disgusting.
Well sorry for the long rant, but thats my 2 cents.

The point of an argument isn't to force the other person to agree, it's meant to help the other person see your view of the situation. Never did I say his opinion was wrong, nor did I call him out on it. The only thing I said was that it was horribley stereotyped and there's more to it than just saying we should administer urine tests to everyone on welfare. You guys are forgetting that I first said I agree'd with all of you. I think 90 percent of people on welfare put themselves there, I think that almost all homeless people chose to be homeless (through actions), and I don't agree with welfare. But if the gov't was going to force a urine test on everyone on welfare and other gov't aid programs it would cost a ridiculous ammount of money. Before jumping to an opinion about the first sentance of what I type, try reading the whole thing and stop being so biased.

Well I concentrated on the stereotyping thing cause it was the main issue you seemed to bring up (being that you mentioned it serveral times, more than the other "points" you made).

Besides the other things you mentioned had already been stated in some form or the other, further adding to the pointlessness.

Now I didn't say I agreed or disagreed with anything you said (and if you read my first post you'd see I brought up some of the same stuff, so obviously I agree with some of it) just pointing out the redundancy is all.

And 95civic1.6l, I don't care if anyone disagrees with me on anything, I'm more than willing to defend my opinion if anyone has a problem with it. I love to debate and exchange ideas, I hardly ever call these types of things "arguements" although thats what most people reach for as soon as they hear it. Arguements are something completely different.
