ORIGINAL: Mad7s

IF YOU HAD READ THE BOOK
Why would I read the book when I could just watch the movie.

If a book is worth reading, it will be made into a movie. Although the movie may suck!

mad7s, I never read the book, but is it anything like the OLD War of the Worlds movie? I can't remember much of the old one, but I think the one with Tom Cruise is a bit different than the old WotW.

Both movies are horrible compared to the book. The old movie took place in So Cal around the LA area. The alien vessels didn't walk, they flew. The old one followed a scientists personal journey, not a bogus dad and his kids. An atomic bomb was used in the old one. In the old one they never address the fungus the aliens bring from mars and they also never address the aliens need for other organisms blood to survive. It goes on and on and on.

What really kills me is the shields the aliens have in both movies. What hell is that? In the book, a couple tripods actually get taken down by some cannons that were lucky enough to escape the "heat ray" (which was invisible) and had decent aim. And what was SUPER lame is the part Tim Robbins played. How convenient to merge two characters. Gotta love a hollywood budget. Once again, I highly recommend the book.
