I personally didn't think it was a bad movie, but then again i didn't think that the Lost world Jurassic Park was a bad movie either, and i read that book and it kicked a$$ 1000 times more then the movie. And with War Of the Worlds there was i think 3 versions made, the newest one, one from a few years back, and one back in the fifties )that one had flying or hovering ships.

 

the war of the world was a great movie in my opinion because of steven spielberg. he is the man, and what he set out to do is make this movie stand out from all the others. that is why it was so different from the book and the other movies. if the movie can be watched for what it is, and not what everybody thinks it should be, the movie really can be appreciated.

 

Not true, I wasnt expecting anything when I saw it as was my girl. We both found it to suck to the highest degree. And neither of us knew it was a book and even now I wouldnt read a book.

People in movies need to stop yelling and making noise when their life depends on them being quite, and the movie needs to explain WTF the dumb looking aliens died from.

Also, if the aliens are so smart as to plant the bots here so long ago then transport thier pilots through lightning, wouldnt they have a bomp or a meteor and kill us all like the dinosaours died, then come gather our dead bodies?

Spillberg failed misrably this time.

 

They needed the blood of people to survive. Good call on Spielberg screwing up.

 

Mad7s I agree with you that the movie was not true to the book, but I disagree that it sucked. I thought it was a very good movie in its own right, mainly because it did a great job of maintaining that tense frenetic pace. It was an excellent thriller, although it slowed down a lot during the final hour.

Also, I share your frustration that nobody understands the ending.

I half agree with Leviii but what you are missing is... If it was thouht out that way... the movie wouldn't be a movie... it wouldn't be exciting...The point is to defy reailty.. After all it is a SCI FI deal....

I also had a thought.... When the long arm with the camera lense was chasing Tom Cruise and Dakota Fahning *GOD I HATE HER* after a while the aliens were WALKJING THROUGH THE BLOODY HOUSE like 4 of em with their fat triangle shaped heads!!! and than at the end... the one fell out of the tube got some air and than shrivled.... The movie was good and lame at the same time... in my opinion it was worth watching... but Ive seen better flicks.

ANDD WHAT THE HELL WAS SO SIGNIFICANT ABOUT THE DAMN BIRDS?!?!?!? Did I miss something....

they also left out.... or I just missed it..... why they tripod things stoped working... They just showed one proped up on a building that didnt work anymore..... HRmmm..

 

I think it stopped working cause the aliens inside were dead, but i dunno i could be wrong
