not trying to start an argument, but hey, our oil and the freedom of an oppressed people, thats fine with me
You started an argument. Let's go emancipate the other following oppressed people
1. The child soldiers in southern Uganda
2. Women in Saudi Arabia who is our "allie"
3. All of North Korea who isn't in the military, approximately 49 million people
4. The Kurds in southeastern Turkey, another good old "allie"
5. Those of native blood is the Mexican state of Chiapas

I could go into the archives and really start firing away, but doesn't it seem a bit strange that Iraq with the largest known oil reserves on Earth, who was a by far less threat than say North Korea who we definitely know has nukes, was first on our list of our countries to emancipate?

This is appreciation for the ladies and gentleman that are fighting for (in general) our freedom. For example, if we lost WWII, we would be typing german right now.
I never really felt my "freedom" was in danger. War is always a fun thing to get involved so you don't have to address the really important issues going on. As for WWII, I don't even see how that fits into this? After Kuwait, Saddam took his beating and just in the glass house of his borders. Not to be critical of service men and woman, but the military is by far abused in its uses, and those who join it, in my opinion, either use it as a fall back, are very desperate, or are blind.

Yeah, we all know Bush is just trying to finish what his daddy started. The "WMD's" in Iraq were just an excuse for him to get it all started. I'm just amazed to see how easily pursuaded the American people are. Didn't this whole thing start out as a huge search for Bin Laden in Afghanistan? What the hell are we doing now? We probably would have gotten Bin Laden by now if we hadn't lost sight of what we were really searching for.

Somehow, I think he was just being a little sarcastic there.

just wanted to say that im in the military and this is rad that this thread is up. I dont care if you like the military or not, as long as you respect the people who are keeping you safe . and i also wanted to say that its a different world over there, so until you see it first hand, you shouldnt be so quick to judge. peace

Aslo 1 more thing, all we know about your military is a two words"Friendly Fire" which by the way isnt.

actually Honda might not be here had we not bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. after they surrendered, they agreed to demilitarize, and a lot of the industry started going into technology instead of military. also, i think there was some money that was given to Japan to jumpstart the industries. the world would probably be speaking Japanese if they had the lead in military that they have in cars. so its a good thing they decided to concentrate on the industries.
