Went to the chiropractor for the 1st time.
So I went to the chiropractor for the 1st time the other day because I could hardly move my neck it was a slight pain that graduated into a friggen horrible one. She cracked my neck 4 times and my back twice. I thought it would feel good right away but instead it hurt like hell after that I couldn't get outta bed for a whole day because I couldn't lift my head. I just wanna say that if you go to one don't expect it to feel ok right afterwards. Also anyone who's been to one, all the revisits they wanna reschedule are they necessary? I told them no because I don't have insurance so i can't afford them.
I was going for a while because of a long standing back problem, and I found that the only way it helped at all was to go twice a week @ $40 a visit. In the end, I just decided that it wasn't worth it.
I once heard it described like this: The chiropractor brings your vertebrate back into the proper position, and you have to strenghten those muscles to keep it there. If you do exercises to get your need/back stronger (your chiropractor should be able to give you a whole bunch for free) you'll have a much faster recovery. Unfortunately though, the chiropractor isn't like a surgery, it's not once and done. It's a long process to do it right, and you HAVE to do stretches and lifting to get your musles more in shape.
Good luck man! Hope it gets better.

a number of years ago I was in a car accident (idiot ran a red light and T-boned me just as I entered the intersection. Cops figured he was doing about 60km/h) Needless to say I got my bell rung, even though I had a seatbelt on. Part of my treatment were 3x weekly visits to the Chiro (paid for by insurence thank the good Lord) for 4 weeks. Yes it helps, yes you have to go back a number of times, and yes, BY ALL MEANS do the excercizes they tell you to do!

I would find a chiro that lets you come back whenever you need too, not one that trys to sell you a number of visits. Try to find a graduate of Palmer School of Chiropractic. They seem to be the besttrained and the most ethical.
Sometimes it does hurt more after a visit. There are stresses that have been there for a long time and sometimes the body needs to adjust. If your chiro suggests exercises to strengthen the affected area, you probablyshould do them. Sometimes one visit solves my problem, sometimes several visits, but I have never needed the "series" of visits some want you to purchase.
I first went to a chiro about 55 years ago and have had occasion to need their services through the years. Not all are the same. You may need totry a few before you find the one you like. Around here visits are $25-$30.
When you call one for an appointment ask if they are a Palmer grad. If not, ask them to refer you to one who is. Palmer School of Chiropractic is located in Davenport, IA right across the Mississippi river from me. They are by far the largest chiro school in the US, so you should not have trouble finding one. I find the older the chiro is the betterhe/she isalso.

chiro's dont like to fix it the first time cause they want to keep you comming back , the first time my back poped , i could hardly walk , i went to a guy ,gave him $30 , i walked out feeling like new , poped it out agian a few years later, went to a place that accepeted myinsurance . they made me come back every other day for 3 weeks , at $65 a shot - good thing my insurance covered it
Thanks guys. My muscles ony my upper back are tight and they didn't reccomend any kind of stretches. But I occasionaly stretch my neck and I think I'll start my back to.. I sleep on a damn heating pad every night. I just don't know WTF I did to have this problem I'm only 21 years old and this **** sucks. I keep on going on about wanting to be healthier and more in shape but I think it's about time to actually do something. Anyways thanks for all the input guys.
i've been going to the chiro for years. averaging oncea month for maintenance. i have long standing chronic back pain and chiropractic care relieves the pain and puts the spine in proper position. but after that you have to take good care of yourself as to not make the same mistake of misaligning your spine again, and pinching nerves etc etc. exercise helps a lot.
