in gerneral.

as any of your accidents made you drive differently? mine has for sure. i don' like to drive. i'm slower and a lot more cautious.and when ever i go thro an intersection, i'm on the right side so that cars can see me sooner if there trying to turn.

I guess I was learning something from every one of them, including near misses...

happened the day before Halloween. I was at a red light and the car in front of me was going to turn left. And there was no car in back of me since the red light behind us was red. Anyways i was stupid enough not to check my blind spot and changed lanes to get around the car in front of me trying to make a turn, so then a truck came up on my left side and scraped my right fender a bit. He was speeding to work due to being late. he was probably going more than 30. He left some skid marks on the road, which to me was kind of hard to do if going 25 or 30. Anyways it was my fault and got a ticket for failure to yield from a parked position. Now i need a new right fender and a new front bumper.

None yet... but I have seen some bad ones. I have seen a jay walker get hit b/c she didn't look before crossing the middle of the street at 15 or 10 mph. I have also seen someone try to go south on 202 north. no head on b/c it was midnight and no cars we coming at her. there was more damage done to the transmission than would have been done in a head on

More than a week passed since this poll was started. As of now, there are 51 votes, so I guess everybody who wanted to vote voted already.

I think I have a couple of interesting thoughts about the results. Before I go on, I want to stress that all statistical observations are impersonal, I do not mean to offend anybody personally, and I even do not remember who posted what.

First thing that surprised me was the high number of people who did not have any accident in their life at all – more than 20% of all people answered. The only explanation I have is that the significant part of HCF audience is very young people who just started their driver’s career.

Next thing that actually puzzles me a lot is that the number of people who think they were at least partially responsible for the accidents (13) is exactly twice as low as the number of people who are absolutely innocent (26). If you translate those numbers for the whole population, this would mean that the half of all of the accidents happen for no reason. Well, this is something impossible, so some likely reasons for such results could be:
- Wrong wording of the poll questions;[:'(]
- The HCF audience is significantly different from the population as a whole;[&:]
- Some people do not realize they did something that contributed to the accident.[:-]

One more observation is that we have the big number of people who were rear-ended. Does this mean civics have better brakes than other cars?

ummm...civics do have better brakes than ... let's say saturns, but it doesn't help you when a deer jumps in front of you...and in my case, being rearended just meant that the other car's driver was not looking.

It was the alcohols fault they did not have a warning strictly stating do not drive under the influence in large enough letters to read while impaired.

Your case is unique. I think it's just an extremely unlucky car and extremely lucky car owner...
