Man. **** winter.

I miss being able to drive wherever in style. I miss driving like super race car. D:

I miss longboarding, and the extra activities associated with such. :P

Winter has me down. I just hate it.

How's it going for you guys?

It is going to be in the 60's this weekend around Philly!

I hate the cold. Last year was mild, this year is a little worse. Oh, and snow sucks donkey *****. I want to move to Oregon, or Washington and just deal with rain since that doesn't bother me.

I still lurk but my car project is over, hence the lack of posting.

What is cold

Once the teg is on the road and the Civic is gone, my project thread is going to turn into just a list of maintenance records since I don't plan on modding it at all after the car is cleaned up.

IF all goes well come end of spring I will be starting a new project thread. This being the project:

It's 4x4 and can be upgraded to portal axles just like the unimog has.

LOL. Considering I'm nowhere near the USA and these are sold literally in my back yard...

This is a portal axle. If you look at the hubs closely you will see that the hub's center is below the axle center. That's because there's a reduction gear in the hub. This acomplished two things. 1. It gives you 3" more clearance in the case of the above posted minivan. 2. It takes some load off the differential allowing it to be smaller AGAIN increasing clearance in the middle of the axle since the pumpkin is higher up and smaller.

The other vehicles that have such setups are Mercedes Unimog:

and pinzgauer

What about Real Life, аsshоle?

oh and here is a side by side comparison of two different kinds of axles on a UAZ 469, a close relative of the above mentioned minivan:
