Windows XP Home Edition
i have my windows xp on the computer.. i had home edition..taken off a school disk... never once activated it.. just used the codes on the side of the computer for the serial... never has bothered me since
Windows XP Home Edition requires the OS to be activated a few days after you have installed it otherwise it will shut off. If you have a LEGIT copy, you won't have a problem. I think that all the Windows XP OSs are like that, except for Windows XP Corporate edition, but getting your hands on a copy of that is hard as hell since its only sold to companies.
That and that it doesnt cme with any of the 'extra' crap like home edition does. Like there isnt any realplay or MSN or Juno offers like that. Its like a no frills stripped down race car to be more exact.
Yeah, my dad has a corporate copy through work. Works a lot better!
You can register over the phone, but you need three hands, a lot of paper, and a clear memory. It's a PITA. I had to do it last year in my step aunt's garage when I gave her my old computer.
In her case I was basically doing a switcheroo between my new computer and the one I gave to my aunt (swapped hard drives). The stupid Dell copy of XP that was getting installed on the SAME Dell hard drive didn't work in a Comcrap. It shut down 30 days later and we had to buy a copy of XP. All is fine now AFAIK.
