Precalc and discreet math in one course, man that must be one HELL of an introduction to discreet math!!!!! I just finished discreet math last semester and let me tell you it's no joke!! We did a bit of statistics in that course as well, I have to say my favorite part of statistics was calculating the odds of winning a pick six no order lottery drawing. It's a very interesting subject, lots of symbolic IF this happens THEN this will happen and then do the "math" and seeing if it is a true statement. Good luck guys and take it seriously its not a course to lay back in.

Oh yeh, I remember "imaginary numbers" and "matracies" (not sure about the spelling on that one!).

btw...precalc here is defined as FST and PDM in one year...FST is functions, statistics, and trig, PDM is precalculus and discrete mathematics. somehow they have a course thats both of those in one year and called precalc
since this thread seems to have drifted to calculus....
that seems a little overboard. i took college calc with only a semester of trig and college algebra under my belt. basically, as long as you understand algebra inside and out, calc is pretty easy, but a lot of it depends on how good the teacher is, and there aren't many good math professors/teachers out there.

i took geometry in the eighth grade

but yeah...in advanced algebra we skimmed over calculus a bit...and trig. somehow they figure we need algebra, geometry, functions, statistics, trig, discrete mathematics, and a precalc course to take calculus

damn. if i was as good at math as i am at most other stuff (science, language, history, geography and such) I would be so much better off. for some reason I hate math. I can do algebra when i have to, and geometry is easy except for the whole algebra aspect of it, but i hated it, so i never gave it enough effort to excel in it. I just hate structure. thats why i love cars, its up to me to find out different combinations and i even like figuring out differnet ratios and stuff. cars are a great creative outlet, even more so for the really intelligent people who realize that it doesnt matter if your 130+ IQ could make you a doctor or a sucessful lawyer. if you hate doing it, is it really worth it?
