So I purchased a 2000 honda civic and really want my ac to work. I checked all the fuses and they are fine. I even jumped the fuse to see if the clutch for the compressor would kick on, still nothing. When I turn my ac on, the condenser fan kicks on and the engines idle increases but the clutch wont engage. I tried jumping the pressure switch on the condenser as well with no luck. I have added refrigerant and still nothing. Should I replace the ac compressor or do yall have anymore suggestions?

 

Don't blindly add refrigerant without knowing if it's needed or not. Does the clutch itself work? I wouldn't expect idle to go up if the clutch wasn't engaging.

 

it was low so I did not just blindly add it. The clutch doesn't engage but the idle still goes up. Its very odd.
