Is it possible that the O2 sensor could be bad and the CEL does not light up? I have been getting TERRIBLE gas mileage on my 93 Civic EX with on 66000 miles. Last time I checked, I was getting 22 MPG. I have tried everything you can to tune the car up. Has anyone else had a bad O2 which did not set off the CEL?

Thanks.
Daniel

idk, usually if the sensor is bad the CEL will come on. Maybe the fuel filter or air filter, You got an aftermarktet intake?

I have replaced the fuel filter and the air filter and am still getting the same sh*tty gas mileage. I am about to give up on it.

The idle is a little rough. Not jumping or coming anywhere close to killing the car, just rough. It causes some vibration. The CEL is not on. I have not checked the timing belt. Is there a DIY on how to do this? I have not checked a timing belt before, but am more than willing to give it a try. Is it in the Haynes manual?

0-2 senser are not always cheep i called around for one on my civic HX and its cost between 350 and 385$$$ so make sure you are getting the right one for your car i did not think i needed to pay that much and bought two for my civic but did not work luckly i got them for only 25$ each but still a pain thinking i got one that will work. maybe its just my model car but ask around for the cheapest price. Mine has been bad for some time but i dont have the money to fix it right now got other problems so dont worrie and think it needs replaced right away you have time just dont beat on your car.
