My my oil light and CEL had been on for a while. P1259 error. I had the oil pressure sensor changed and that didn't work. I had a new vtec gasket put in and the oil light is still on. Well it flickers on and off. My mechanic checked the compression and he said that everything is fine and that I may need an oil pump. Is he correct?

 

Put a new oil filter on regardless of how old the present one is. It could be that your crank and rod bearings are shot and not letting oil pressure build up. Have you tried thicker oil?

 

How can the mechanic recommend an oil pump without measuring oil pressure? Have him check that, first before doing anything drastic.
