04 civic wont start
My girlfriends 04 civic is not starting. It doesnt click when you turn the key, the only thing it does is make a very low clicking noise that sounds like it comes from the dash. I've pulled all the fuses, and had the battery tested to see if it has a bad cell, and everything this far looks good. Non of the dash lights come on, except the abs and brake lights. Any help would be much appreciated. thank you
Turn the headlights on. Do they come on? Turn the key to try to start. Do the headlights stay on?
If the lights are dim and then they practically go out, the car isn't getting enough power from the battery. Either the battery is run down or defective, or there's a bad connection in the battery wiring. Testing the voltage at the battery with a voltmeter while trying to start will confirm it is good or bad. If the battery voltage stays up, check the main fuses in the fuse box near the battery. Also check the power and ground wires with a voltmeter. Measure voltage from the battery post to whatever the other end of the wire connects to. The difference should be nearly zero volts on a good connection.
