1.5 nonvtech need help
hey i'm looking to repace wifes engine w/jdm unit.wifes car 92 sedan 1.5 non vtech(d15b7).I would like to know if 88-95 1.5 or 92-95 1.5engines will work.some suppliers list 88-95others 92-95 ,whos right ,marty's list of engines puts them in same catagory.any info would help
I'd stick with your generation. Who knows how many miles some of those older engines really have on them. In some respects, it won't matter though. Imean what motor you get. If you use your existing intake, exhaust, alternator and everything your car won't really know it has a new/different motor. You would not have changed any of the sensors or anything. I had a D15B7 in a 95 DX coupe. I put in a JDM D15B non vtec from my generation. No problems.
After I changed the motor I thought the JDM motor had more power. But it is probably only because the old one was so worn out the new one just felt strong in comparison. It doesn't get quite as good gas mileage either. My D15B7 averaged about 38 mpg, the D15B gets right at32. That 6 mpg may be my foot, too..

One other thing... As far as the forum goes you are probably in a state of purgatory. You spelled VTEC incorrectly on your very first post. Not just in the post, but the title too. Ouch.
Be prepared to be schooled. Folks are going to have some fun with it.
