1 gear hesitation

hi i have a 87 crx si it hesitates in 1st gear at about 2 to 3000 rpm do you have any idea wat it might be i replace the valve cover gasket the distributor and cap wich help alot and i fixed the alternator i think it might be the timing or the egr valve but i tryed to set it and after awhaile my u cant hear my intake i think it might be my egr i dont know if anyone knows please tell me thanx

the egr as the oxygen sensor should set off a check engine light (CEL). is that light on ?
