Question 1989 civic spark problems

hi there people, I have a 1989 civic with alot of miles that run real good when it runs. lately after it warms ups or driven about 5 miles it dies and won't start again until it sits long enough to start cold. during this no start condition there is no spark to plugs.please if you can help anyone i don't have the money to change parts ***** nillyhttps://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...s/confused.gif

Check for any codes on the ECU light. If there aren't any, usually this problem is from the ignition control module in the distributor, they tend to quit when hot but then start working again after cooling off. Before replacing, make sure that the distributor is getting power on the black and yellow wire, there are no ECU codes, and the ECU is up and running (CEL cycles on and off when you turn key on but don't crank). All these tests of course must be done during the time when it won't spark.

thank you for that. the ecu is not showing a code. and the dist. is getting power. so Ill replace the module 50.00 at auto zone. you told me exactly what I needed to know thanks again.
