Have you checked the speedo cable? Did you reconnect it?

Inspect the ends of the cable at the transmission and speedo and also test the speedo:

You can detach the cable from the transmission and pull the center part out. Make sure it is intact, it should be ground down into a square on the end that goes into the speedometer. Apply grease to the cable and reinstall.

Look into the socket on the transmission to see where the slot is. Before inserting the cable, rotate it to align the tab on the end with the slot. If you have it too far off it will not go in all the way.
