Default 1991 Civic Dx D15B2 using oil

I am using a lot of oil. I have good compression and power, get 35-40 mpg, but still using lots of oil. Roughly 3-4 qts of oil per months. My IACV is giving me fits and will address that, but would like to know what I should look for in using so much oil. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

Fred

I would use a slightly higher weight oil, it's really not that bad to do. Oil pressure will be effected a little bit but my guess is your not going to be redlining it or taking it to the track. Your mpg will also be slightly effected but will help tremendously with oil consumption. During winter months (if you have them) I would use a lower weight during cold starts which is the meaning of the first number before the 'W' the other number represents the viscosity during normal operating temperature.
