1992 civic central locking wires?
Dear forum
I have a 92 civic 1.5 lsi saloon - great car, had it for years with only minor problems. I've just fitted an alarm with remote starter unit, I wired it in myself and it all seems to work great, even the remote starter (which is great for these UK winter mornings).
I would now like to connect the remote, door lock/unlock functions - I have some questions:
1) Is my car + or - central locking?
2) What wires do I need to connect in the car and where do I find them? The alarm has just two wires (lock and unlock) but I've had a good old look under the kick panel for the lock and un lock wires but no joy. I can easly access the front drivers door panel and connect from here but I really am lost with location and wire colours.
Any help would be great!
Many thanks
Joe (UK)
P.S I can post the wiring diagrams of the alarm if this help

It is negative
i plan to do what you have done, (install the alarm, remote starter (for the cold UK mornings)) and the central locking, so i have not seen this in person but from wht i have read up here and there on the internet, theres should be 3 wires on the the lock actuator (behind your door card) yes they are a pain to take off if you have got wind up windows..... side tracked a little
anyway 3 wires 1 is unlock the other is lock, unsure on colours, green and orange rings a bell for lock, or was it unlock
just google it or search on this site im sure it must be on here somewhere
hope i pointed you in the right direction....

For easy of installation I think I will go wiring inside the door panel. Am I right in saying that the actuator is the green box inside the drivers door (sorry I'm a newbie to diy car jobs)?
If you haven't already found one, I got my remote starter/alarm from www.hawkcaralarm.comthe remote start seems to wrk very well (it won't operate if the handbrake is not engadged and if it doesn't start on first attempt it will try again for 4 times).
Again thanks

we should have nearly the same car though mine is a left hand drive coupe, dont know if u are in the uk or not
though what i do need help with, is i have a immobiliser installed in the car already which is a funky little keypad thing(it is an aftermarket one), which i would like to keep, how could i keep this as say a two stage immobiliser and still be able to use the remote start????

Ok thanks.
If you have the same unit as me (HA 260) then I think you will have to bypass the immobiliser with the remote start (put it in the circuit after the immobiliser). My unit will remote star the engine and let it run for 6 mins before cutting out (security function), if you put the key in the ignition and click twice (not start) then once the 6 mins has elapsed the engine will continue to run (because it knows you are in the car). Or if you remote start and then use the keyfob to unlock the doors - you the have 30 seconds to get in the car and insert the key and click twice (not start).
I thinkin your case you would have to remote start, unlock with keyfob, insert and click keys and then disable your immobiliser.
This is if you have the same systems as mine.
I think your best option, if you can, is to wire in the remote start as if the immobiliser isn't there or take it out. Get the remote start working first as it has to be conected to the hand brake and engine check light on the dash. After you have this working then re-introduce your immobiliser to the loop.
I hope I haven't put you off!
When you come to install it if you have problems give me a shout and I will do best to help
Thanks again

nope not put me off at all, there has been alot of people on the internet saying get it done by a pro, and there was a guy that told me that hes seen loads of people set their cars on fire trying things like tht, and all tht didnt scare me off how do they know how competent how are at doing something, i think the one a bought is the exact same one as you,
i was thinking we could maybe meet up and sort it out have a few drinks or whatever but you do live quite far, i live just between liverpool and manchester so basicaly the whole length of wales away
How long did it take you to install, did u need help, was it easy to find all the wires u needed with a multimeter

Glad you're not put off.
I think the best thing to do is put a few hours aside for this project. If you have a haynes manual get stuck in or like you say google "civic ignition wires". All you have to do is take off the outer plastic shell around the bottom of the steering wheel and locate the wires. Make sure you dissconnect the battery first. Once you have found your wires just connect them to the remote starter via the diagram supplied, its easy. I haven't got the instructions with me but will dig them out when I get home.
Good luck
Joe
