1992 honda accord not starting
My wife has a 1992 honda accord and a friend of mine decided to fill her transmission all the way to the top. Shortly after the car started making a screeching grinding noise and the car would not shut off even with key removed. It finally died and now will not start back up. It has power just nothing happens when i turn the key. I know this is a civic site but anyone have any ideas.

Not turning off with the key suggests that the switch is messed up-- it's unlikely to turn on properly either. Then there's the "screeching grinding noise until it eventually died" which could be a major mechanical failure. If you hear a click from the starter but it doesn't turn, check if the engine is seized by trying to turn it with a wrench on the crank bolt (key OFF).

Is it possible that the key assembly and switch assembly separated? Or are they sealed together?

I have 93 LX Accord 5MT and want to help my fellow Accord owner.
Knock on wood, mine hasn't given me issue on starting.
There are two wire to the starter motor, fat one and skinny one. Pull skinny one off from motor/solenoid and connect voltmeter, (+) wire to it. (-) wire to ground/engine. Have someone turn the key to start position and see if you get battery voltage. Move (+) wire to larger wire on the motor and see if you have battery voltage. If you have voltage on those, 1) you have bad starter or 2) locked up engine with starter gear stuck on flywheel.
Remove the starter from engine and check the starter motor if it spins or not by hot wires. check the condition of gear on the motor.
Try these things to begin.

Really sounds like the ignition switch and/or key cylinder is jammed. Take the column covers off and take the switch off of the back of the cylinder. See if you can start the car by turning the switch with a screwdriver. If that doesn't work, jump between the white wire (feed from the battery) and black wire with white stripe (starter). If that makes the starter turn, replace switch.
Edit: But I would check for seized engine FIRST, before spending too much time with that car.
