1993 civic ecu
Gentlemen,
I have a CEL, and am trying to jumper out the ecu to read the code.
What do I jumper out? I can't find what I believe is the proper place to do this. Can anyone give a moron like me SPECIFIC directions on what to look for.
On my ECU, there is a thin black box, but I don't think that is what I'm looking for. Do I need to unbolt my ECU to find the harness?
Where exactly is this harness?
Thank you for your help.
Jim

The harness you jump is actually tucked up behind the bottom of the glove box. Near the right corner. There's going to be a big harness wrapped with green rubber material. Its really 2 harness's held together with the green rubber thing. You will need to jump is by getting a piece of metal and placing them in the harness. The harness you will use is the small out of the 2.
It's on the side of the car just above the bottom edge of the dash and below the top edge of the carpet. This is all up well above the ECU itself. Like the other guy said it's going to be attached to some short small wires hanging out from the big harness.
Did you find it? It doesn't seem to exist on my car. A buddy of mine that also has a '95 Civic tried to show me where it is supposed to be but couldn't find it either
Is there a way it could end up behind the ECU or something like that?

I did find it, but was frustrated while doing so.
I'll explain it the best I can.
Lay on the floor of the car, passenger side, with your legs uncomfortably contorted around, over, or beside the seat.
As you look up and to your left, at the very spot where the glove box ends, there is a small opening that 2-3 fingers will not fit well into. There may also be a small metal bracket there designed by the Ginsu knife company. Reach up in there repeatedly until you find a light green (mine was green) rubbery box shaped apparatus, about 2 inches long by 1 inch deep. It should have 2 plugs in it (they are not plugged into each other, I think the green thing is a dust cover or something), and you want the smaller of the two plugs. Put a jumper wire in there to complete the circuit and follow the other directions posted here to determine your engine code.
I spent more time finding this damn thing than anything else. Even replacing the years-rusted-and-heated-into-place O2 sensor was a breeze compared to finding the the plug designed and hidden by Satan.
Have a first aid kit and some peroxide available for the nicks and cuts you will receive from repeatedly jamming the two or three fingers you dislike the most into the crevice.
Its all good though. Beats shelling out a hundred bucks for the yahoo at the Honda service center to tell you what you can find out on your own.
I hope this helps. If not, I hope you got a chuckle.
