Default 1993 civic eng rpm fluctuations during driving

I was just on vacation for 3 weeks and when I left my civic was doing just fine. However when I got back I noticed my car is acting weird. My eng rpm's are going up and down throughout 2nd 3rd and 4th gear. The car quickly bursts with power then bogs then power then bogs etc. halfway through each gear starting with 2nd. This usually happens midway through the gear. Also my speedo starts jumping around during this occurance. I've also noticed that some of my dash lights except my CEL slightly illuminate since these problems have arisen. What could be causing these problems after the car was parked for 3 weeks?? Can anyone help me please?

Had a similar issue and on mine it was the VSS. But I have an auto and the surging was the torque converter locking and unlocking.

you will usually get a check engine light though, but something to keep an eye on.

All the lights doing weird things suggests a fundamental electrical problem such as a bad ground. Check the big ground wire which goes from the battery to the frame and then to the transmission. Check the small computer ground wires on the thermostat housing. Disconnect, clean, and securely reconnect both battery terminals.

Yes I do believe it is electrical in nature. Today as the fluctuations started my car actually turned off. As it shut off the battery light and oil light came on simultaneously.
