When first starting my civic after replacing a bad ECU the engine fired up for a second before dying.

All subsequent starting attempts have led to a crank but no start condition.

I have checked the fuses and none of them appear to be blown. What sort of testing should I do to get to the bottom of this problem? I would like to avoid going out and buying parts before I understand the problem.

See if your plugs are wet with fuel. Will tell you if the injectors are firing at least. If not - start looking if ECU is getting power. Why was it replaced anyway?
