Default 1993 civic runs like crap after it gets warm

I recently put newpistons rings rods bearings and even a new cylinder head on this car. It burned so much oil before it was nuts. It runs great now until the engine gets really warm, like driving it on the highway for fifteen minutes. It starts acting very eratic. If i'm pulling up to a stop sign and let off the pedal, it idles down really fast and almost dies. Then it bounces back up to idle. It also starts getting really jerky, it's hard to even take off with out killing it. Icanhave the cruise set on and if it is going up a hill or under some sort of load its fine.As soon as it needs to let off a little it justlets off completely. Then when it accelerates again it jerks really hard. Something isn't right... It's like its running rich or something....Ive tried 02 sensor, iac, cleaned throttle body, new battery connections, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, air filter, looked for vacum leaks. One more thing, when I put it back together I could not get the ignition timing to line up exact for some reason. I've done this before and not had a problem... it's weird. I checked my timing belt about 10 times thinking I had it off one tooth. The timing belt is dead on.

It might be worthwhile to check that the distributor is properly assembled (see pictures).

Nothing was done to the head, just a stockrebuild. Was that pic of the distributor for a 1.5 16 valve engine?

Pictures were taken from the available 92-95 Civic service manual. Engine type was not specified, but would the distributor differ for the 8-valve engine? Also, do you find any corrosion in the cap or on the rotor, coil, igniter, and their terminals/wires?

I'll check that in the morning. I have another question. How do I reset the computer? Will the 7.5 back up fuse reset it?

Yes, remove the 7.5A BACKUP fuse for at least 10 seconds and then reinsert.

I might possibly have a couple wires interchanged. I'm going to kick myself in the azz if so. lol Would it run ok for a bit if I had 2 and 4 mixed up?

Not sure, but rejoice if the solution is so simple.

I had that problem. You may need to reset your IACV or in my case, it was a bad plug wire. Problem solved ::thumbup::
