Lightbulb 1993 Civic - what is this part? (photo attached)

My mom has a 1993 Honda Civic that a psycho mechanic tried to fix but ended up breaking.

To cut a long story short, I just need someone to identify the part in the picture attached to this post so I can (hopefully) find a replacement and stop her car from idling so high and stuff.

Looks like some sort of thermostatic vacuum valve, there was nothing like that on the USA 1993, as they are almost fully electronic. Is yours for another country? Carbuerator or fuel injection? Are you sure that part was actually stock on your car, or something the "psycho mechanic" tried to add?

I honestly have no idea what that is. What trim is the 93 Civic? EX, VX, DX, etc? The trim might identify the motor which may have a "specialty" part. However, it does look like some sort of a sensor.

Looks kind of like a temperature sending unit but not sure about all of the vacuum hose connectors.

The car as a carb and it was imported from Japan years ago (we're in the Caribbean).

I think it's a 93 Civic Ferio EX.

The part was literally just handed to us before the mechanic had (and I kid you not) a small nervous break down after his family died in a wreck. As a result, i have no idea where he took it from after a couple days of searching. It's also cracked so I'll have to get a new one and replace it.

All we notice is the car idles alot higher now and as far as i can tell, runs rich. In drive, it accelerates a fair amount without any gas being applied.

I (and my mom) appreciate all the help guys! I'll be sure to update you all if I find something out.

Fortunately (for us) they never brought the dual carb type to the USA, it wouldn't meet pollution standards, so I'm not at all familiar with it. You may need to find a JDM service manual and someone who can read Japanese.

I would expect the metal end of that part to screw into a port on the cooling system somewhere. When taken out the coolant would run out, so if the car is running now, there must be something else in its place.
