Default 1994 Civic EX trans problem

Hi, I have a 1994 civic ex. A few days ago it started to shift very rough, and the whole car would vibrate. Then a day later I heard a winding noise when i stopped at a light. I was in drive (4) and the rpms just went up as i was climbing a hill and the car would not go when it was in gear. I turned the car off and let it sit for a few minutes, checked the trans/diff fluid and everything was good. I started it back up and it drove for about a minute and stopped going again. I repeated this process for about 3 miles until I got home. Now I start the car up and hear a winding noise, but the car goes forward and backward in my driveway still. Could it be a bad torque converter?

Did you check the fluid with the engine running? Unlike the other fluids, you always check the automatic transmission with the engine running (in park). Checking with it stopped, it will have drained down and make it seem like you have more than you do.

Yes, i actually found a trans at a local junkyard for 200 bucks and threw it in. I think it was a bad torque converter
