Casually ask your friend if he happens to have comprehensive insurance on his car, for no particular reason. Do not start to make any repairs until the insurance claim is completed. Obviously it is a total loss but he should net $3000 or so and be able to keep the car.

ya IMO i wouldnt touch the car if it was torched..... depending on the heat from the fire it could have fried the whole car completly! fire is not good for vehicles because it burns off all the protection paint that keeps the car from rusting away... hondas have enough trouble with rust from factory.LOL

IMO its scrap metal either way..... heat will destroy everything... ur better off looking for a parts car or wrecked car to rebuild if its in good condition or repairable condition most the time they sell cheap for blown motors or a bad tranny. typicaly blown motor tho

most likely it started out with a simple rag or towel and a lighter or if he had the sunroof open or windows down slightly its as simple as throwing in a lit cigarette! once the cars interior material is on fire it will just spread growing larger and larger..
it really doesnt take much!

ok to start with i would get a manual or at least a list of what parts are on the car and tear it down tag and bag and label ever thing you touch save what you can if it looks crispy still tag it and keep it around just in cause type thing. for the body i am a professional body man and i have fix 2 or 3 that have had fire damage first thing to do with the body is clean it really good and dont use any cleaner with silicon in it. if you do just scrape the car you ll have major problems when it comes time for paint (long time off still). then visually look the whole car over and see if the roof is buckled or warp do the same for all panels and get some soap stone and circle all the areas that visually look damaged, also feel for damage by hand if its not smooth and level circle it. Pics would really help me but theres a starting point and dont just scrape it if there is savable parts ebay those mothers and make money to purchase another project. just some suggestions
