Default 1998 Engine Swap

I have a 98 Civic EX that needs a new engine. The stock engine in the car is a SOHC 1.6L 4 cylinder and from everything I have read that same engine is also in the 1996-00 civics. I have fund a good price on a 2000 engine form a Civic base LX sedan. I just want to make sure before I purchase this engine that it will have no problems as a direct replacement for the one in the car. If anyone could let me know if there is a difference I would really appreciate it, thanks and sorry if this has been covered.

It will not be a direct swap. You have a D16y8, the 2000 LX has a D16y7. Basically the same motor, but no vtec. The 2000 LX is also an OBD2b, your 98 is OBD2a.

All of these differences are minor and can be dealt with easily though.
