Default 1999 civic ex

Guys I have a 1999 civic ex auto d16 engine, I changed all the engine belts and after a week I hear a noise coming from the alternator, it gets louder when I press the brake or turn on the HIDs lights, but the noise is only while idling, I checked if the belts were too tight but they are ok. any ideas will be appreciated.

The bearing in the alternator may be going bad.

If the noise is truly coming from the alternator itself, then the alternator should be replaced.

I would check the alternator with a stethescope of some kind before you do all the work of pulling it out, but I agree with Ron sounds like Alt bearing.

Well, most definitely.

If the alternator is really making the noise, then put the front end on stands and remove the driver's side wheel and the splash shield. Removal of the alternator is as described in the diagram, except that you must also remove the Lower Mount Bracket to get the alternator out.
