Default 2000 ex coupe erratic idle issue?

Ok guys, got an idle issue here on my 2000 ex coupe 5-speed d16y8.
91,000 miles, and car is completely stock.

I have no Check engine light and no codes being thrown.

When i am driving and when i push in clutch to shift to neutral, the rpms's drop to 0 and the car stalls at stopping.

Sometimes it wont drop to 0,but drops to like 200, and then jumps back up to 1000 and back to 200 and so on.

It seems this idle issue is more common in warmer outside temperatures.

I cleaned the IAC valve this morning but that did not fix anything......any other ideas, it looks like all vaccum hoses are connected and look well.

Advice please?

thanks

jeremy

If you unplug the IACV connector, does the idle speed drop or engine stall? If not, replace the IACV.

Is the PCV valve (or hose) clogged or stuck closed?

Is the ignition timing set to spec?

Have you tried adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body?

You could just try cleaning the IACV...I know on my old 93 all you do is take it off the intake manifold and use some carb cleaner and a soft bristle tooth brush and clean the screen. it probly has some carbon on it.

as I stated in post, I did clean the IAC valve, the screen had carbon all over, but after I got it all off and let it dry.. car still the same.......today while driving, car was not stalling but idle was very low and erratic.

the warmer the weather outside, the worse it is.....

The passages in the throttle body leading to the IACV valve may be plugged. Also check the resistance of the IACV coil (measure ohms between the 2 pins), not sure what the spec is but if you find open circuit-- for sure the valve is dead.

ok guys, we changed the PCV valve today and the fuel filter (overdue) and have same problem. We also unplugged the IAC valve with car running and it stalled so the IAC seems to be ok.

It seems to be stalling all the time now when the engine is warm......push in the clutch and the rpms drop to 0 and stalls.

Did you try to adjust the idle screw on the throttle body as shown in the diagram?

Possible that the idle needs adjustment all though I think this is not too common? Dunno.
I too was going to suggest the PCV as they are often overlooked due to location on the engine.

if it idles fine when starting car and sitting, wouldn't the idle be fine?
