if it idles fine when starting car and sitting, wouldn't the idle be fine?
Why would be uncomfortable doing this? It's so easy and you have detailed instructions. This procedure is the logical next step.

Have you even hooked up an accurate tachometer to measure the idle speed when the engine warm?

When you have an idle problem, you need to be able to read engine rpm. Do you have access to an OBDII scan tool? Some can read engine rpm.

Have you checked the ignition timing with a timing gun?

slipped my mind but when car has been sitting for awhile, and you first put it in 1st gear, it kind of hesitates the first few hundred yards down the road in 1st and 2nd gear.......step on the gas and it doesnt want to go anywheres. after then its fine.

not sure if this is related but it has started recently also.

again, no codes.

Ignition timing, plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor. Have you checked any of these?

timing belt changed 4 months ago back in march 2009, the timing was on then......

plugs, wires and cap/rotor replaced last spring 2008.

That's more than a year ago. Have you inspected these items since the problem arose? If not, inspect them now.

Was the timing checked with a timing gun?

Again, was this also done before the problem arose? If so, you should check the timing again.
