2001 Civic has clicking/whirring noise
Hey all,</P>
I went for a test drive in a 2001 Civic 1.7L with 106k miles on it. When I hit mid-rpm range (man. trans.), there was a strange hum/whir/clicking coming from the engine. My intuition says that it would be a timing chain going bad, or a broken tensioner.</P>
Does anyone have any knowledge of this issue with the 1.7L engine? If so, is it relatively easy to repair? I found this car for a good deal, and I want to buy it. I thought I would get input from Civic folks.</P>
