2001 civic lx
hey guys and gals I just bought my son a 2001 civic. I've got a running hot problem. I've finally came to the conclusion the bottom radiator hose is staying cold. I have good heat. I have changed the thermostat. can someone please help.
first thing I would double check is that all the air is bled out of the cooling system. Honda's can be a bit of a pain in this regard.
with the car off, crack open the bleeder bolt (if your car has one) fill coolant slowly until it escapes from the bleeder bolt. Tighten bleeder bolt and top off coolant. Place rad cap on loosely and run engine until the rad fan cycles a few times. VERY CAREFULLY (use a rag) to slowly remove the rad cap. Top off fluid again. Make sure no bubbles are coming up (if they are wait a little bit to let all the air escape)
Thats the quick version. It helps to have the front of the car jacked up so that the top of the rad is higher then anything else in the cooling system.
