Hello, was wandering if any one could help me out with this.
I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX.
Last month when i would go to start my car it was cranking really slow
and had a hard time starting, so my first thought was to check the battery
and battery terminals.

I went to advanced and had my battery checked and it came back fine.
I then bought a terminal brush, continuity gel, and cleaned up my terminals and connections, and that still didn't fix the problem.

I then took the starter out and took it to advanced and they did a bench test,
and the starter came back bad, so i bought a new one, installed it and the car started right up.

Well it's a month later and now I'm having the same problem again.
The past few days its been cranking slowly and now the car wont even start.
All I hear is one click when I turn the key.
I had to push start the car to get home today.

Do you think I had bad luck and just bought a bad starter? Or could it be something wrong that is making the starter short out?
I'd appreciate any feedback you may have.

check the tranny ground and its connections (starter wont be able to start if it is bad). id say check alternator output, but if battery if fine that probably isnt the issue...

 

You can kill an alternator fairly quickly by allowing the battery to drain to almost dead and then expecting the alternator to work overtime to recharge the battery. ALWAYS use a battery charger to bring the battery up to full charge BEFORE starting the car with a new alternator. You may have killed the alternator.
