Default 2002 Civic EX ABS Light

I had new brakes put in my car, and afterwards the ABS light came on. I took the car back to another mechanic, who ran diagnostics and told me that the brakes were okay, but he couldn't reset the ABS light. He told me to take it to a Honda Dealer to get it reset. Does any one know how I can reset the ABS warning light short of that?[>:]

How come you didn't take the car back to the mechanic who put the new brakes on?
I would have taken it to him and made it his problem.
If there is a way to reset it, I imagine it would be in your book.

i concur with macbeth. on a side note, the abs light is coming on for a reason and the diagnostics obviously wasn't able to detect it. i've heard that many scanners cannot get the data for abs.

On the civic, the ABS system will automatically re-set the light on the next ignition cycle once the trouble code goes away. Since the light came on during a brake job, my guess would be that one of the sensor wires got damaged.

If you take the car to Autozone (or a comparable parts place), typically they will pull diagnotic codes for free. Free is usually much cheaper than the dealer. Then, once you find what the code is, you can "negotiate" with the place that did the brake job.

I'll bet you a coffee it is a speed sensor fault.
