Default 2002 Civic Mystery Engine Noise

Hello All...

I have a 2002 Civic LX Automatic and I hear an odd noise upon low levels of acceleration. It seems to be coming from under the hood. The noise sounds kind of like when you shake an empty spray paint can. The sound is not constant, so it has been hard to get the problem diagnosed by a technician. It primarily occurs at speeds below 10mph. Recently I did not hear the noise for a few days, but after I had my oil changed, it started up again. I would really appreciate any ideas as to what this noise might be.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for the advice.

I have since taken the car in to have it checked out again. The car did not make the noise for the technician, but a service adviser did hear it. I have noticed that it only occurs between 1500 and 2000 rpm's. The noise seems to originate from the passenger side of the vehicle and under the hood. The car does not have to be in motion. The noise can be generated in park and in neutral as well. The service center didn't have any specific ideas as to what it might be, but the service adviser said that he thought it might be something related to the throttle. Any further advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kerr_iss
