I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX (4door), automatic tranny.


It recently started making a very interesting noise that seems to be coming from the AC compressor. The noise exists with and without the AC on, but changes dramatically. In the past 2 weeks it has gotten noticeably worse, so I am in the market to buy/replace the compressor.


As I want to avoid evacuating the AC system, and recharging it, I don't want to replace the entire compressor. Is it possible to just change the clutch and leave the compressor intact, or would the compressor need to be uninstalled anyway for the clutch to be done?


Also - does anyone know of any cheap clutch assemblies online? or complete compressors?
