Default 2003 4-DR. LX GAS MILEAGE HELP!!

Hey everyone....I just bought my 2003 LX 4-dr. automatic on November 1st with 25,500 miles on the clock. It was Honda certified and I also got that complete warranty thing they offered. Whats going on is I filled up the car when I drove it off the lot. The 1st tank of fuel only cost me 20 bucks and i got almost 450 miles out of that tank. Needless to say I got real excited over that...but that died quickly. Every tank after that 1st one mymileage has been real ****ty to say the least. I usually now get to like 220 miles and its already down to a quarter of a tank left. I have taken it on a trip to West Virginia recently and i got a little over 300 miles b4 the gas light came on. I will also go ahead and say the car now has 30,100 miles on it and it runs like a complete dream still. I took it to the dealer because they gave me my 1st oil change for free and they also checked everything as part of the oil change and said all was well. I asked Honda about the problem I am having and they happily said my warranty doesnt cover it because that is considered a maintenance item and I need a fuel induction service that was over 100 bucks to have done. What should I do about this?? Any ideas would definately be appreciated. Mind you the car shows no signs of abuse...interior and exterior looks completely brand new and the engine purrs like it should. Thanks guys and sorry for the long post...just wanted to make sure I explained everything that was going on.

have you done the math out to figure out exactly what mileage you're getting? miles on trip odometer/# of gallons to fill tank...

was the drive from the dealer a long distance? have you only been making short trips?

i know i saw a dramatic difference in my mileage when i stopped making long trips to only short ones (like used to get 32mpg combined highway & city, now only getting like 26mpg all city), granted i probably need an oil change, and a tune up, as well as tire rotation etc.

i also know that my gas light doesn't come on (or my tank is bigger than the spec'd 11.9) until like 11.7 gallons have been used, and that when my gauge is pointing to E, i have about 2-3 gallons left in the tank

i'd start tracking your time in car, distance traveled and gallons used between every fill up

Making constant stops within city limits will effect your gas milage, but you said you made a trip to WV and got 300 miles... did you drive fast? Did you use cruise control? Tapped the pedal a lot? A lot of things can effect that. I say your milage is still very good. Me and my buddy have civics and milage is almost never the same because we drive to different areas with different conditions/factors all the time. Still better than most of cars.

When I took the car to WV and back I went 70 mph the whole way with the cruise set. There wasnt a need to tap the pedal or anything like that. When I drove through Cleveland I had to slow down a few times but other than that it was a pretty smooth drive. I was just amazed that my mileage took that much of a plunge since my first tank that I had in the car. I upped the tires to 32 psi all around (cold) but so far no improvement whatsoever. I generally put 9-10 gallons in the car when I fill up. Get around 27 mpg at a rough estimate. I already track my mileage and gallons and all that and my spreadsheet says that overall I am getting 26.4 mpg. I got better mileage honestly when I had my 1998 Plymouth Breeze and even better than that with my 98 Cavalier. Both have bigger engines than this car does.....weird I think!!

Sounds reasonable to me...I've gotten 42 on the highway before, but usually closer to 27-30 around town doing errands and such.
