Default need help

hi guys, i have a 97 civic ex d16y8. i know it doesnt give hp but ijust have a SRI. instead of top speed, i just want to get better acceleration. what can i do with $600? how much hp do i gain? or should i sell the car and get an american car like ford, chevy with at least 3 liter engine altough they are all trash but faster than any civic? thanks for ur helps...

Ford and Chevy will break down on you much faster than a Civic (that's my oppinion and it's not based on hard facts), and you will get a worse gas milage. So that's a bad trade. $600 is not much... maybe enough for a cheap exhaust and intake. That might give you more hp (not much though, but it'll increase gas milage).

You could always try running higher octane fuel at the pump and see if that helps at all. American cars are going to suck the wallet dry on gas, and break down sooner, I will have to agree on that.

Remember that a civic is an economy car, its not really meant to haul ***, but the beautiful thing about them is that they will take just about anything you throw at or into them and come out on top.

I would say try a decent cat-back exhaust and maybe some new plugs and wires, or if your crazy enough a performance chip, although I don't have any experience with them and can't guarentee that they will do anything at all other then screw something up.
